Acupuncture and Gastroparesis

Gastroparesis is a disorder that affects the normal motility of the stomach causing it to not empty properly. Symptoms of gastroparesis include pain in the abdomen, nausea, loss of appetite, belching and indigestion. Acupuncture is incredibly effective in treating not only the symptoms of Gastroparesis but helping to address the cause of the condition. Traditionally patients are told there is no known cure to correct this problem and typically causes range from being a side effect of diabetes to an injury to the vagus nerve, or autoimmune or nervous system disorders. Typically within six sessions, patients report a drastic decrease in symptoms and an increase in appetite as their tolerating food much better. In addition to gastroparesis, Acupuncture has proven to help treat a variety of gastrointestinal disorders.
