 Acupuncture

Traditional Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture are the foundations at our facility. Acupuncture induces a natural self-healing process by stimulating points that communicate with the body and restore balance. The benefits of Acupuncture are vast and can help to treat everything from physical pain to emotional distress, gastrointestinal disorders, gynecological issues, neuropathy, insomnia, and even cold or flu. There are relatively no negative side effects to Acupuncture and majority of patients will completely relax and fall asleep during treatments. After treatment, patients report feeling less stress, calm and balanced. Dr. Lauren Edwards offers complimentary consultations and is happy to answer any questions on how Acupuncture can help you.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient Oriental Medicine technique used for more than just pain relief and sore muscles. Recently, cupping gained recognition after the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, where athletes utilized cupping to alleviate discomfort and stiffness from excessive physical exertion. The athletes were using this therapy as cupping can help to relieve muscle tension, but also promotes circulation and blood flow. Cupping works by applying small glass suction cups to help pull the muscles and tissues up, releasing built up lactic acid and reducing pain. The area being treated may feel tight as the cups are applied, but patients report the sensation is enjoyable and relaxing. There are many benefits to cupping, the foremost being reduction in pain and increased range of motion.unknown-1

In addition cupping has been used for years to aid in detoxification, support the immune system and open up the lungs in cases of respiratory restraint.

After cupping , some people will see circles on their back ranging in color from light pink to a darker purple, looking similar to that of a bruise. These are completely normal and expected. The cup marks will dissipate within a couple days and are not painful. After a cupping treatment a patient should feel less pain and more relaxed.

Appointments can be scheduled for cupping only. Treatments are usually scheduled in 30 minute blocks, which is enough time to go over health concerns or any questions you may have.
