Meet The Author
Dr. Lauren Edwards is a Board-certified licensed Acupuncture Physician in The State of Florida and a graduate from East West College of Natural Medicine. She graduated with honors from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Psychology and Communications. She has spent most of her life living in Sarasota, Florida and attended Out-of-Door Academy for her college preparatory study.
Dr. Lauren’s journey towards holistic healing developed when faced with a personal obstacle in 2003, with the diagnosis of late stage 3 Melanoma Cancer. After several surgeries and lymph node removal, Lauren committed to a complete clean lifestyle, focusing on the importance of nutrition, stress reduction and exercise. She quickly developed a deeper understanding and appreciation for Western care combined with holistic health. In addition to her educational studies, Lauren has personally conducted extensive research on what contributes to causing, as well as what can help alleviate, dis-ease within the body.
In addition to fulfilling her clinical requirements at East West College, Dr. Lauren studied abroad in China studying Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Changchun University. While in China, she treated alongside the Chief of Medicine in the Acupuncture Department, attending to over ninety patients per day. The hands-on experience not only helped to master her technique, but the personal guidance from the local Physicians deepened and enhanced her understanding of the medicine.
Dr. Lauren also completed an externship at Health South Rehabilitation Facility in Sarasota, Florida. While there she was able to work closely with patients in the community with limited mobility suffering from a variety of disorders including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, chronic pain, and stroke.
Dr. Lauren has a sincere passion for sharing her knowledge and personal experience with others to help treat the body as a whole and strives to make her patient’s health her priority.
